100 Faces of War Experience | Portraits and Words of Americans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan - Apply
100 Faces is looking for new people.
It is vital that we record first hand accounts of war for future generations. If you have gone from America into these wars you can contribute to our understanding of the American experience of war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
We need to find at least one person from each of the 50 states and we are looking to represent the widest cross-section of the American experience of these wars. We are looking for people with widely varied rolls and backgrounds.
We are looking for people from all states. Below is a list of the states we really need to represent right now in order to make sure we can fill out the dream of showing the whole country:
AL,AK,AZ,AR,CO,HI,ID,IN,IA,KS,KY,LA,MD,MI,MS,NE,NV,NM,ND,OH,OK,OR,SC,SD,TN,UT,WA,WV,WY,DC
Please fill out the form to request we include you or someone you know in this project. It only takes a minute.
Click Here: 100 Faces application Form
Unfortunately I can't fit in anyone more from Massachusetts, because we have a lot of Massachusetts folks already (the project started in Mass).
I also highly recommend that veterans look into the Veterans History Project. The Veterans History Project is run by the Library of Congress. I believe it is vital that we record first hand accounts of war for future generations. That's what I am doing with the 100 Faces project and this is exactly the same thing the Veterans History project is doing. Please consider becoming a part of both projects. #Goth : Defining A Decade 90s
This word contains over a thousand years of drama. In brief:
Around the fifth century, the Goths were a tribe that helped defeat the Roman Empire; by the 1500s, gothic meant "barbaric" and was used to insult a new style of architecture; that architecture became associated with the medieval age; ideas of medieval darkness and mystery inspired gothic fiction of the 1800s like Dracula.
All this eventually led, in the 1990s, to goth fashion – characterized by vampire-ish black clothes and eyeliner, and a preference for dark music and moody Romanticism.

NASA - ISS Transits the Sun
ISS Transits the Sun
Thilo Kranz, a staff member at DLR, the German Space Agency, took this image of the transit of the International Space Station ISS with Space Shuttle Atlantis during the STS-132 mission.
Kranz photographed "the ISS as it passed across the solar disk in just 0.51 seconds ... At this time, preparations for undocking of space shuttle Atlantis during its final mission, STS-132, were ongoing. You can see the still docked shuttle in the 11 o'clock position. Also, you may recognise the solar panels and the large radiators. In the full resolution version of this image, you can also see the Soyuz capsule. Close to the centre of the sun, a group of sunspots is visible."

Peter Murphy posts photo of himself in 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' costume
It's been a long time since The Twilight Saga: Eclipse wrapped filming, but Peter Murphy, whose cameo in the film was spilled by Billy Burke (see here), has just released a photograph of himself in costume from the movie.
According to Twilighters Anonymous, the photo isn't the only relevant piece of information about the Bauhaus band member's appearance.
"[Peter] is involved in telling the story of how the wolves came to be . . . He is one of the provocateurs of the wolves way back when and he sort of starts the whole thing rolling," revealed Melissa Rosenberg in an interview.
Sounds like Murphy's role is small but important! Doesn't he look great as a vampire in the picture

Hillbillies In Albuquerque
My father and I were shooting a beautiful Albuquerque sunset from the balcony of our motel, when two vehicles from the trailer park next door decided to smoke their tires in the lot next to us.
I later realized that they were observing us from the park and decided to try and obscure our shot with the tire smoke.
While they are doing so, you can faintly hear my father joke, "They own a tire shop."
Then, you hear him say the words that eventually became the title to this video.

"Oh no, I gotta stop that. No, actually it doesn't really matter. That's fine."
I was reconfiguring my studio software of choice, Logic, to record via the built in microphone for quick voice recordings.
By default, Logic has a record mode metronome "click". I started a test recording, realized that the metronome was going and this was the result.
