Collaboration for Advancement of Art
Chris Liebing and the CLR team are very exited about the upcoming release of CLR 049. The ENGINE EP by BLACK ASTEROID is the brand-new project of an artist who has been an unconventional techno innovator and a big inspiration for many years.
Black Asteroid is the brainchild of Bryan Black, who started his career as a sound designer for Prince. While working with Prince at Paisley Park Studios, Bryan learned and honed sound and production skills, which inspired him to start his own band. He moved to London England and co-founded a band called MOTOR. Their first demo was quickly signed to Novamute, and after 2 singles, MOTOR were catapulted to the top of the techno world, sharing stages with Daft Punk and Kraftwerk at major festivals, and later embarking on a World tour supporting Depeche Mode in 2009.
In April 2011, Bryan decided to start a new project by the name of BLACK ASTEROID, to showcase an exciting new sound and to re-capture the techno world once more. That was the moment when Chris Liebing came into the picture, and he recalls it as follows:
"Of course I have always been a fan of Novamute, and one day I had this "Motor" track called Sweatbox in my hands and loved it so much, that I called Novamute and asked if I could remix it. The result was the release of a single sided vinyl that came out in the end of 2005 (youtube.com/watch?v=MFBxk3KYH80). What I really liked about the Original was the "out of the ordinary" techno approach that Motor had...., and still has. For my remix, I actually only added a bassdrum...
6 years later I find this demo mail by Motor mastermind Bryan Black in my inbox, with a 4 track project called BLACK ASTEROID. He kept following what was happening on CLR and thought it was a good idea to send me the new tracks he has done. What a great idea! Very soon the next day, our whole office in Berlin was dancing and the neighbours were complaining.
I am excited and happy that Bryan has chosen CLR in order to get his tracks out and that we can continue the story, which started back in 2005. Loads of musical adventures lie ahead of us and I am happy to have Bryan Black on board!"
This debut EP of BLACK ASTEROID was written in only 1 week. Then it was mixed in the following week and signed to CLR a week later. An early demo version of "Engine 1" even made it to one of the highest ranks in Dave Clarke´s monthly top ten, long before any promos were sent out. It almost seems as if this music was in a hurry to be out there, and if you listen to it, it won´t surprise you at all. The ENGINE EP consists of nothing but pure POWER.

Categories : UncategorizedHello art lovers, the Breakneck Gallery is here
2 08 2011The long standing local gallery, The Pop Shop, will be closing it’s doors this month, and we will be doing our best to fill her shoes. I will leave the explanations as to why this is to R!ch, which you can find here. We are very excited, flattered and overwhelmed to be taking over a gallery with the reputation the Pop Shop has earned in her 6 years. We pledge to do our best to continue their tradition of bringing interesting and exceptional art to the Lakewood/Cleveland area.
We wish Rich and Sarah all the best and hope to see the Pop Shop reopen some time in the future.
Any former Pop Shop artists or new artists who are interested in showing please contact us:
Sean@breakneckgallery.com

Thanks, and we hope to see you all soon.

My paintings always reflect my most acutely felt emotions and experiences. When I start a painting, sometimes I am initially driven by wanting to portray an emotion, idea or image. Other times I am inspired by a particular style or by the beauty of the paint or color. I view my process as one of discovery. Every time I paint I like to find something new or enigmatic in my work. This creates in me a sense of excitement that I strive to pass along to the viewer.

I have two major loves. You could almost call them obsessions.
The first is for photography. You can often find me wandering about, camera in hand, striking weird poses to get the image I want. I'm pretty much completely self-taught and I practice as much as I can so that I can continue to improve.
The second is for bath and body products. I almost collect them, and have since I can remember. I had always wanted to make soap, lotions, and various other potions and finally took the plunge in September of 2008 and I haven't looked back since. I am a spooky grrrl, so I chose that name for my bath and body line, but don't be concerned that I don't have anything just for you. I try to make as wide a variety of things as possible because I am a firm believer that variety is the spice of life. We each have or own likes and dislikes and that is what makes us beautiful. I have the fussiest skin, so I strive to make products that even people like me can use and not have to run screaming for the allergy medicine. I also adore trying new things and feeling like an alchemist so please ask me to create something custom-tailored to your needs. I make each creation with love and care, and every one is unique in a way that only true handmade can be.
I do the melt and pour style, which is kind of self-explanatory, in a way. It still takes skill, and I try to add as much nice stuff to my bases as I can. I also do hand-milled bars as well as re-batching. I love cold process soaps, but just do not have the space to do it safely in my home. I also do my best to find the nicest bases that I can obtain. My bases are sulfate and paraben free and many are vegan. I am a firm believer in offering products that are as cruelty free as possible!
If you have allergies or if I have forgotten to list ingredients for a product and you would like to see one, please convo me and I will be happy to provide whatever information you need. Sample sets are available as well. It's always better if you have super sensitive skin to try things to see if they will work for you. Simply contact me and we will find something that makes your skin happy.
I share my home with an army of felines, one dog and my little bunny, Foo Foo. :) My home is totally non-smoking.
I sign all of my prints. I only watermark them for use on the web. I also am my own test subject...I try out all of the bath products I make on myself.
These are the essential and fragrance oils that I currently have. If there is something you are looking for not listed below, please convo me and I will do my best to obtain it!

I am just a girl who likes to make things with my hands. I have a fascination with primitive dolls, vintage items, and old world toys.
